2021.12.07 08:39 Beneficial-String180 How would a Transformers Anniversary series?

The tittle says it. How would Hasbro make an Anniversary series to celebrates Transformers'...gee I don't even know how old this series is lol.
I got this idea when I was watching Gokaiger, and that reminded of Power Rangers and it's (awful) 20th Anniversary series. And since Hasbro owns PR now this kinda made me think.
What would a TF Anniversary series be like?

2021.12.07 08:39 poppypodlatex What are everyone's thoughts on Southbound from 2016? This one flew right over my head, I'd never heard of it before asking in this sub about a horror film I couldn't remember the name of and one of the suggestions was Southbound. Spoilers in the comment section if you plan on watching it.

I'm really happy that someone suggested this as the possible movie I was looking for, it wasn't.
But after I watched the trailer on Prime to make sure, I thought it looked good and rented it from Prime store.
I watched it last night and I really enjoyed it, I like the premise of some sort of supernatural apocalypse, rather than the over used zombie or viral disaster horror movies. Exactly what is going on and exactly what's happening to the characters isn't explicitly explained, but by the end things are clearer if not obvious. we are left to think for ourselves as to what's going on but there are clues in the background.
From listening to the local radio DJ who's broadcasting in the background, to some throwaway lines and dialogue that needs to be pieced together. From the start it seems like the supernatural is accepted as their reality, two men arrive at a motel rest stop covered in blood, the female clerk doesn't bat an eyelid other than telling them that the services are for customers only and making them spend some money.
The customers sitting in the diner ignore them altogether even when the building starts to shake, presumably signaling the arrival of the supernatural beings the two men are running from, the customers don't give any reaction, other than some subtle looks from the clerk at the till.
The clerk looks like she hasn't slept in a couple of days with dark marks under her eyes, and the furtive glances at one of the men who arrived covered in blood suggests she has an idea of what's coming for them, but she does not seem worried about her own safety she doesn't show any concern or panic.
The two men who are running try to outrun the entities that are chasing them and they drive along a straight highway but they come straight back to the same rest stop and motel even though they didn't make any turns.
They are obviously surprised and don't seem to understand what's happening, but the female clerk is outside smoking a cigarette when they come back to where they started.
Her hand is shaking slightly as she smokes which I thought was subtle and a nice touch which suggested an underlying fear on her part.
Soon after one of the men decides to stop running from the entities and after a short argument the other is quickly killed by one. But the other unnamed man is left alone.
He walks slowly back to the motel and three of the entities appear to be watching him and usher him into a motel room where some stuff that will make sense later happens.
A maid walks past the motel room and hears music coming from the room and puts a do-not-disturbed sign on the door suggesting she has an idea what's going on in the room, or at least that something is going on in there that no one should walk in on.
Dont worry, I'm not going to describe the whole movie, but the next part of the film both makes things clearer and muddies the water at the same time.
The next part is about a band on the road in a mini bus made up of three girls, when they open their motel room door it appears that they are unaware of anything out of the ordinary going on there at all and everything seems normal, but as they are driving along the highway they have a tyre blow out.
They are stranded on the side of the road, in the middle of nowhere and no sign of another vehicle when a station wagon pulls up with a middle aged man and woman offering assistance.
Both are overly friendly and overly helpful from the start, and one of the girls seems wary of accepting any help from them, but as they are driving away one of the other girls shouts for them to stop and says fuck it we need a ride, in the car one of the girls asks the man how long they had lived in the area. His answer is kind of vague and only says 'Oh since the war', but he doesn't say which war and I took it to mean the final war between heaven and hell, the impression given up to that point is that hell won.
Now I don't like any movie that pushes a religious agenda and I avoid the horror movies on prime that have the biblical fiction of the so called rapture as it plotline, but Southbound isn't one of those types of movies.
At the middle aged couples home some strange, mysterious and dark stuff happens again some of it is pretty subtle and I don't want to ruin anything for anyone who watches it.
The next section of the movie is the last I'm going to talk about because this post has been long enough already and I don't think anyone wants to read a full synopsis of the movie.
So it's a continuation of the previous segment involving the girls from the band, a man who appears to be some sort of business man is driving along the same highway and again appears to be normal with no concern for the area being in any way dangerous or strange.
Something happens while he is driving and talking to his wife on the phone. That's when things start to get weird for him, after he calls 911 for help.
He ends up being tormented by multiple sinister voices over his phone but after a certain point it seems that he is aware of something, because he says that what happened wasn't his fault and begs to be left alone, the voices relent and allow him to carry on his way, he even asks if anything will come back on him from the evidence he left behind but is assured that he will get away with no consequences, again this suggests to me that he is aware of something but I'm not sure exactly what or to what degree.
The Thing I loved most about this movie was the small subtle touches here and there, some of them tied things together and some of them were just nice touches that added to the atmosphere, I also really liked the suggestion that it was going on in a post apocalyptic world where evil had won. Obviously that's my own interpretation of the film, I might not be right and other people may see whats happening in the film differently.
I'm not always a fan of movies that don't explain what's going on. Sometimes I enjoy putting things together for myself other times I can't be bothered, mainly because I'm not engaged in the story enough to care.
But Kill List is excellent and a good example of when less is more story telling is at its best. But I'm not a fan when writers or directors mistake being deliberately obtuse for clever story telling.
Low budget horror The Circle on Prime would be my worst example of this, at the end of the movie there is a "twist" ending in that none of what happened in the whole movie was real, everyone was dead, had died in a car crash that had been shown as a near miss at the start of the film, apart from one of the student archaeologists who was norse and on the borderline between life and death in some sort of norse afterlife. If it had ended there, fine. Its not the first movie to use the 'they were dead the whole time' trope.
But the Circle is particularly egregious in this regard though, because the opening scenes of the film were of a naturalist on the same exact island that the students were on, he was there to take photos of the seals but he was killed by the same monster that went on to hunt the students.
The closing scene is just as bad, it shows the boat captain in the harbour taking on more passenger to take them to the same island he took the students to at the start of the film, he gives a sly smile to the camera and it ends.
The opening and closing scene are massive plot holes and make the whole movie and everything that happened in it nonsensical and its just plain stupidity that no one involved in making the film said hang on this doesn't make any sense.
If anyone bothers to read this long arsed post, I'd be happy to hear any suggestions for other horror movies that take part during or after some sort of supernatural apocalypse that doesn't involve zombies or zombie type antagonists.

2021.12.07 08:39 Keinwa Analog fashion culture

First I'd like to apologise in advance, I don't mean to disrespect anyone and if you're reading this, I'm talking about them, not you 😊
I'm a 29 year old guy dropped out of school to make movies Didn't have money to make a movie Picked up photography for the money Made some money but started to hate it Quit my job and bought two cameras One for video and one for photography
A couple of years later, I'm broke, I have cameras and I'm happy. That was my spiderman intro
Anyways, what the fuck is up with these hype photographers, sorry but It really triggers me. My best friend just bought a contax t-money, my other friend decided to buy a rolleiflex. Both have never taken photos before, never been into art, movies or anything of that sort. They're into fashion though, very much so but nothing creative or artistic. So why did they do it?
Kylie has a contax and the other person bought the rollei after watching the trailer of that one documentary, she even wears the hat and boots.
I always tell people to buy cameras and get into photography, it's an "easy" hobbie to pick up and if you're someone who travels a lot or can afford to do so then come on, you should.
This, this bother me. The people who use cameras strictly as a fashion prop. The leica photographers who take more photos of their cameras than photos with it. The medium format's beanies, bluejeans and big shirts. The sony's skinny pants and volcanic bracletes.
I'm down with any of this, if people would just take the damn photos, good or bad, just shoot.
Stop bringing out your camera as part of your outfit when you know you won't use it. Don't buy a camera because someone else looks hot with it, be your own person.
Start your own fad, find yourself an old Russian camera and make it famous with your photos and then style. Don't be a poser, the same is happening to skating, metal music and even fishing. This causes an imbalance to the market, it raises prices, it lowers the standard of quality and it's disrespectful to the masters of that field.
I bought a Mamiya because of a youtube video, I sometimes dress a little more hipster if I'm going shooting with a film camera, I sometimes play indie music while shooting to feel like a French girl exploring the city. I'm guilty and that's fine, as long as we are self aware and prioritise the final result which is the photo, nothing else matters but that one photo.

2021.12.07 08:39 beauxos I Need Help (Bad Title, I Don't Know What Else to Call It)

I've only recently started exploring the prospect that I may be autistic, mainly though posts on Instagram that highlight various autistic traits that I really resonate with, but then I feel like I'm faking and subconsciously forcing myself to express those traits because I have read about them. One question I consistently have, and ask my therapist (for which I never get an answer), is whether or not the traits can be expressed by neurotypicals, and are just more common in neurodivergents, or if they are strictly neurodivergent traits. I'm hesitant to get tested because I am afraid my brain will subconsciously gear my answers toward whichever result my brain decides it wants. So I guess my question is, what are the chances of a neurotypical expressing several neurodivergent traits to a degree that, upon further reading, they begin to feel like they might be neurodivergent without being neurodivergent?
